Administrative Law

Areas of Practice Administrative Law–EEOC, Department of Human Rights, Department of Labor

In Illinois, there are several administrative agencies where an administrative law judge hears disputes and makes a decision. Illinois administrative law hearings tend to be less formal than traditional Illinois courts. We have practiced before administrative agencies such as the Medical Vendor Administrative Proceedings of the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services, Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES), Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFRP), and the Illinois Department of Human Rights (IDHR). Examples of some of the Illinois administrative law matters we have handled include:

  • Represented and defended clients in disputes (such as wrongful discharge claims) before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the Illinois Department of Human Rights, and the Department of Labor.
  • Representing a physician/surgeon before the Medical Vendor Administrative Proceedings of the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services wherein the Department sought the indefinite suspension of the physician’s medical license for failing to file tax returns.
  • Representing a doctor before the Medical Vendor Administrative Proceedings of the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services based on an audit that the Bureau of Medicaid Integrity conducted which sought the recovery of hundreds of thousands of dollars and removal of the physician from the right to participate in the Illinois Medical Assistance Program.
  • Represented numerous employers before the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES) where the employee sought unemployment compensation.
