Workplace Law Partners has filed suit against the Internal Revenue Service and the U.S. Department of the Treasury on behalf of a veteran IRS Criminal Investigation Special Agent, alleging that senior IRS officials unlawfully disclosed his confidential personnel, disciplinary, and tax return information in retaliation for his whistleblowing. The complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois in Chicago.
Our client spent nearly 25 years with IRS-CI and led major offshore tax-abuse investigations, including those involving Puerto Rico's Act 60 and Maltese pension schemes. He also filed whistleblower complaints about the agency's handling of significant enforcement matters. The complaint alleges that IRS officials disclosed his protected information to the Department of Justice Tax Division, leading prosecutors to treat him as "Giglio impaired" and interfering with his active investigations and professional standing.
