What Are My Rights If I'm Being Discriminated Against at Work?

If you've experienced discrimination or retaliation at work based on race, sex, age, disability, religion, national origin, or another protected characteristic, you have the right to file a charge with a government agency — free of charge, without a lawyer. In Illinois, that generally means filing with the EEOC (federal) or the Illinois Department of Human Rights (IDHR), and there are strict deadlines for doing so.
