Location: Chicago, IL 60601 (Hybrid – In-Office and Remote)

Position Type: Temporary full-time with potential for permanent full-time hire

Salary Range: $35,000-55,000 (depending on experience)

Job Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Paralegal/ Legal Assistant to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, excellent written and verbal communication abilities, and a genuine interest in employment law. This role is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working closely with attorneys and clients on meaningful cases that make a difference.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with receiving, sorting, scanning, saving, and forwarding incoming mail to the appropriate attorneys
  • Assist with intake calls and intake follow up
  • Assist with administrative tasks
  • Support attorneys in all phases of pre-litigation and litigation
  • Prepare case chronologies and timelines to assist attorneys in litigation strategy
  • Assist with court filings in state and federal court (e-filing experience preferred)
  • Assist with the assembly, production and tracking of discovery materials
  • Prepare and send subpoenas for records and witnesses
  • Draft and proofread legal documents including demand letters, discovery requests and responses, pleadings, and client correspondence
  • Correspond and communicate with courts, clients, witnesses, experts and opposing counsel regarding hearings, depositions, trials and various meetings

Qualifications:

  • 1-2+ years of legal assistant/paralegal experience preferred (employment law a plus)
  • Prefer familiarity with federal and Illinois state court procedures and e-filing systems; managing case files, docket deadlines, and maintaining internal case tracking systems
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking skills
  • Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated professionalism and ability to work well with attorneys and staff at all levels
  • Strong desire to learn more, and achieve more, to support the team’s success
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and legal practice management software 
  • Commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality of all firm and client information
  • Use of Artificial Intelligence to achieve tasks
  • Spanish bilingual preferred
